Nice to meet you!

I’m Heather Ritchie, a southern, beach-loving mama, wife and artist. God has been gracious to me in so many ways, but pertaining to this business, He surprisingly opened the doors for this secret dream of mine to happen fall of 2013. One I thought would not happen for a very long time in my life, or at all! As I often say in my prayers, God is my business manager. With His guidance, my hope is to always use this business as a blessing to my family and to others, no matter what capacity that might take shape.

My heart races when creating beautiful lettering particularly with depth of meaning behind the words. Typography is a great love of mine and I love mixing and playing with all styles. I use a lot of modern calligraphy and structured hand-lettering compositions, but something that is signature to my personal style is movement through a composition. I am highly inspired by water, particularly moving water like the ocean and music. Therefore, no matter the lettering style, an organic pushing or pulling of movement that carries the eye is central to each of my designs.

I want to create lovely lettering for your life. From inspiring art prints to logo design and beautiful collaborations, anywhere you see words, I will work hard to make them beautiful for you. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 motivates me to keep creating words for your walls and homes. To surround our families and friends with this Truth.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

I wish I could meet you all face-to-face and hear your stories over a cup of coffee. There is nothing, nothing I love more than to encourage others to “Do what makes your heart wake up!” Whatever that might be, however God built you and what He gave you passions to do. But in the meantime, have that cup of coffee, take a look around and hopefully, you will leave full and inspired. Encouraged to do life, in a real way, needing Jesus, and maybe with something new and pretty to help you press on.

Daniel and I met working at a wilderness camp in Western NC while in college. We were engaged 5 months later and married just a little over a year after meeting each other. It is a wild story, but 10 years of marriage later, many moves, trials, triumphs and adventures later I am confident God made us for each other. He is my favorite person and truly my best friend. He is a loving husband and daddy who leads us well. For all our years of marriage Daniel has been a Student Pastor, preacher and now, writer! We have two awesome children, Teague Walker, our 4 year old boy joy and Elliott Hayes, our 11 month old spice-in-life baby girl.  We are an adventurous, on-the-go family, who loves to travel, be outside and gather at home.

Coffee with creamer, hot summer days and nights, white hydrangeas, the smell of sunscreen and salt air, swimming, the movement of the ocean, being cozy at home, wrapped up in a blanket reading or watching Gilmore Girls, laughing really, really hard with my favorite people, really quiet time studying and praying before anyone else gets up in the morning, the colors of the sea : blue and gray and green and a touch of gold, the sound of a banjo, passionate worship and a yummy smelling candle.
